I know that in this Program the volunteers are people with a great vocation in service, social conscience and deep desire to be active agents of change to combat poverty and discrimination, to promote of human rights, social inclusion and who are concern about the environmental issue and global warming. And sincerely I am very honored to be involved next to you, brave volunteers.

I am in my last cycle of Industrial Engineering in PUCP (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú).
It is a career that has required much effort and dedication on my part by the strong demand of the Faculty of Engineering. Because of my career I could have a pre-profesional stage in different private sector companies: for example I participated in the implementation of the ERP SAP in the module of Manufacturing in a brewer (Backus & Johnston), then in the area of certification of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001), Environmental Management (ISO 14001), Occupational Health and Safety (OHSAS 18000) at Bureau Veritas del Perú and now I’m doing a stage in the area of Technical Management in Talma Menzies SRL, a company that is dedicated to provide Airport Services like ground handling, passenger services, cargo handling and storage.

I must confess however, that I am really motivated to work in areas like Social Responsibility and Social Management and contribute directly with my profession to have a more articulated work between Government, Private Companies and Civil Society to improve the quality of life from my dear Peru and decrease its high, and alarming rates of poverty.

I am also a fervent promoter of free software, thanks to which I could expand my knowledge in systems topics. Now I am an actively participate in the group Debian Peru (distribution of an operating system GNU / Linux) and I promote the use of free software specially Ubuntu and Gnome. For me, its promotion is a matter of ethics because here, in Peru, there is unfortunately a large spread of pirated software (referred to Windows) and many people don’t know that we can have other free options with a great quality like Linux.

I’ve been doing volunteer work since 2004 in different contexts: initially with friends of my college where we had worked with children in poverty by providing help in math, language, theatre and martial arts. Then I was a volunteer at the Hospital of the Child and then I also participated as a volunteer giving advice in developing Pymes. Right now I am volunteer at the “Magis” in the Asylum with Allison and other volunteers.

This last experience of volunteer work is one of the most enriching experience that I am taking because it allows me to further develop the ability to listen and understand the loneliness of the oldie people: our beloved grandparents; to interact with them and show them affection and love as many of them are indigent and have no relatives to visit them. Another reason why this program is very special is because we always make a feedback of our work. We wonder if what we are doing really works, what more we could do and what we need to improve. This debate is very important to take adequate action: Reflection and Action goes hand in hand and I try to adapt this conception over all aspects of my life.

Mis padres están separados y yo y mi hermana mayor nos criamos con mi madre en Reykjavík dónde ella trabaja como enferma. Mi padre tiene tres hijos con su esposa. Mis hermanos tienen 19, 18 y 5 años y la familia viven en Vestmannaeyjar (las islas de los del oeste). Mi hermana es ingeniero civil y mi hermano también ha empezado estudiar para ser ingeniero. Los otros hermanos todavía no saben que quieren hacer en la vida.

Mi padre es sacerdote. Yo sé que él quiere que sus hijos estudien de la teología, ¡Pero no lo dice!
Me interesa todo lo que tiene que ver con el medio ambiente y las culturas diferentes. Estoy contentísima de poder participar en ese curso mediante el cual voy a aprender más sobre Perú y el Amazonas.

I think that I’ve a sense of humor and I’m a sensitive, sociable and curious person too, all the time it’s interesting and exciting to listen and learn different point of view for the personal growth, also I think to start for solving problems our society is very important to know our reality so the volunteers are good places to start knowing our social problems.

Almost always on Saturday afternoon I’ve my meetings in UNEC, for me UNEC is more than a small space in my life, I think that is my passion at this stage of my life. Between one of the great and interesting things I learned in UNEC was the find happiness by helping people with special needs and how important is to work in group.

Among my hobbies, I love travel and take pictures, my last trip was to Moquegua and Ilo, in those places I knew very committed people to their society, that trip gave me more encouragement to continue along this path, I like to sing and dance too.

Mi ciudad tiene un población que ronda dos millones, y tiene todas cosas que normalmente hay en una gran ciudad. Pero todavía el campo es muy cerca. Eso me encanta.

Tengo dos padres y dos hermanos. Mi hermana se llama Jenny y tiene treinta y tres años. Trabaja con biología, principalmente con genética. Mi hermano tiene veintenueve años y trabaja con derecho. Ellos se han mudado de la casa de nuestros padres hace mucho tiempo. Yo me mudé hace dos años. He empezado a estudiar para ser una enfermera y voy a seguir con eso cuando vuelvo a Suecia, después de este curso.
Mis padres viven en el campo y tienen sesenta años. Mi madre es una trabajadora social y mi padre trabaja con ordenadores y tecnología.

Mi madre es de Suecia y mi padre es de Finlandia. O realmente, mi padre es una mezcla de finladés, ruso y alemán. Habla tanto finlandés como alemán con soltura (y sueco y inglés claro) pero yo no hablo no finlandés ni alemán. Es una pena!

Mis intereses son los animales, la naturaleza, la música y el baile. Me gusta mucho bailar y cantar. Y tambien andar en el bosque.

Quiero ir a Perú para empezar a conocer cosas que son nuevas para mi. Por ejemplo otras culturas, personas y claro un tipo diferente de naturaleza.

He trabajado mucho con gente mayor, y tambien con niños. Creo que me gusta ayudar.

Quiero ir a Perú por el idioma también, claro. Quiero mejorar mi español. Lo he estudiado antes, pero es tan difícil mantenerlo si nunca lo practicas. Tambien quiero mejorar mis conocimientos de cuestiónes globales, como lo de problemas sociales y del medio ambiente.

¡Tengo muchas ganas de ir a Perú y empezar a conocerles ustedes!

I also work with others Youngs in my church” Juan Maria Vianney St” here I’ve had experiences that changed my life. Thanks to these today I understand a lot things importants to me. In my 6 years here I’ve been catechist and coordinator of a young’s community. Here I’ve met my best friends.

In my free time I like talking with my friends, go out, and I love watching documental films of religious histories. In the holidays if it’s posible I travel to others cities. Last week I was in a town called Llama it’s the best place where I’ve been: the people, the climatic, the gardens, all it’s beautiful. I’d like go to back again.

I’m very happy of to share this experience of voluntary work with you and I wait know you soon. I’m sure that you’ll like our country and our people. We are very friendly.If Good want we met in lima . You have a good trip.
